The fifth concept car of the “TUNE IT! SAFE!” VDAT initiative has been designed mainly by BMW tuning specialist AC Schnitzer
“Only serious, safe tuning will bring the hoped-for driving pleasure!” Under this motto, the Association of German Car Tuners (VDAT) every year launches a special concept car. In 2010, BMW AG is providing a BMW 123d Coupé for the Association’s “TUNE IT! SAFE!” initiative, which is also supported by the Police and the Federal Ministry for Transport, Building and Road Development. Most of the vehicle accessory equipment has been supplied by Aachen-based BMW tuning specialist AC Schnitzer.
The Nissan Sport Concept, which makes its world debut at the 2005 New York International Auto Show, is the latest in a series of dynamic performance/youth concept vehicles from Nissan Design, following the Nissan Actic and Nissan AZEAL concepts. The Nissan Sport Concept is a dynamic two-door hatchback with a dramatic four-seat interior.
“The story behind the development of the Sport Concept, AZEAL and Actic is that Nissan is thinking big about the small car segment,” said Mark McNabb, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. “With these three design explorations, we’re focusing on how we can bring Nissan’s heritage of innovation, sportiness and driving pleasure to a category of vehicles that traditionally lack design excitement and strong visual appeal.”
Unfortunately, we haven’t got any official word on the powertrain expected in the new Saab. However, we are quite confident that Saab will be borrowing a lot of stuff from other manufacturers to put under the hood. Many experts and critics are expecting the 2013 Saab 9-3 to offer a variety of engines including a turbocharged four cylinder and a V6, in both gasoline and diesel. The turbo four-cylinder is highly expected to be borrowed from BMW MINI.
One thing that we are pretty sure of is that the upcoming Saab 9-3 will be based on General Motors Epsilon platform and it will be released as sedan, convertible and a hatchback. Yes, you read it right! It is not the Epsilon II, its Epsilon. This means, 2013 Saab 9-3 is definitely going to be different than the previous one.
