New Honda City threatens rivals
Following the pause in the production at Honda Motors’ Thailand unit, the company and its line of customers have some good news. The Japanese auto-giant has launched the New Honda City priced at INR 6.99 Lakh. Titled the 2012 Honda City, the new car integrates a sporty look into Honda’s superior design and the sedan’s premium styling in the form of ten eye-catching spoke alloy wheels (available in select grades).
The new model, measuring 4440 mm, comes with a ground clearance of 165mm giving a 5mm increase when compared with its predecessor, lending more comfort on jagged rides. The new Honda City comes with a 1.5L, 4-cylinder new generation i-VTEC engine which boosts a good balance of 118PS power and managing a great mileage of 16.8/litere (as per Rule 115 of CMVR). Honda Motors, keeping in sync with their policy of reducing the impact on environment has made the engine as E10 compliant with Euro IV emission levels.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Seki Inaba, Director Marketing, Honda Siel Cars India Ltd. said, “Honda City is one of the most successful car brands in the country and certainly the most desirable sedan in its category.” He went on to reaffirm his confidence in the new range appealing to more customers and finding increased admiration in its category.
Available in five variants – Corporate, E, S, V MT/AT and V (Sunroof) MT/AT – the model boasts of plush interiors. The seat fabric is of high-quality and the vehicle has an improved modern Centre Control Panel with stylish chrome fitting giving that polished premium edge. The new features Cruise Control System and Turn Indicators on OVRM in New City 1.5V and V(Sunroof) add to the car’s stylish contemporaneous look. The City 1.5E will be in the market with Beige interiors and an Integrated Advanced Audio System where as the 1.5S model will boast of the allow wheels. The sedan’s corporate variant makes a stunning entrant with sleek black interiors targeted for customers looking for affordability in a premium sedan.
For those looking for newer options in the color range, there are two new offerings in the City 2012. The car will be offered in Carnelian Red Pearl and Sparkling Brown.The new model also comes with ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with Brake Assist (BA), Dual SRS airbags, pre-tensioner seat belts and G-CON (G-Force Control Technology) body with a high integrity survival zone. The 3rd Generation Honda City which has notched up sales figures of 1.36 lakh units since its launch in September 2008, has been the winner of numerous Auto Awards including the most prestigious ‘Indian Car of the Year 2009′ (ICOTY) Award.
